An Oklahoma man was charged after his 11-year-old stepdaughter gave birth to their child, NBC News reports.
Dustin Walker, 34, was charged with child sexual abuse, while his wife, Cherie Walker, 33, was charged with enabling child sexual abuse and both were charged with felony child neglect, according to court documents. The parents, who face life in prison, claimed they were unaware that the girl, who is the eldest of their six shared children, was pregnant as she hadn’t visited a doctor in more than a year, however, a DNA test confirmed with 99.95% certainty that Dustin is the father.
The alleged abuse took place on or between January 1 and August 16, according to court documents.
“This is one of the most if not the most serious child sexual abuse and neglect cases I have ever prosecuted,” said Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson in a statement obtained by NBC News.
The couple also faces five counts of child neglect in relation to their other children ages 2, 4, 6, 7 and 9, in which the kids were reported to be “living in deplorable conditions” between January 1 and August 16. The children have since been removed from the couple’s home.
“The victims were found to be living in dog feces and had no clothing on,” court documents state.
The couple’s bond was set at $100,000 and a sounding docket court hearing is set to take place on September 3.
“Each of the charges against both defendants are punishable by up to life,” Hutson said via NBC News.
