LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Ahead of the one-year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel, Jewish Federation Los Angeles Wednesday unveiled an art installation paying tribute to more than 1,000 people who died on Oct. 7, 2023.
The artwork, called LA Remembers 10/7, covers the entire side of the organization’s headquarters located at 6505 Wilshire Blvd. The unveiling is part of a larger effort planned for Sunday to remember the lives lost as a result of Hamas’ attack and commemorate the anniversary on Monday.
“We hope everyone who walks or drives by it, or who just comes to see it, leaves with a deeper sense of who we are, our resilience, and leads to an increased mutual respect and love toward all,” said Rabbi Noah Farkas, president and CEO of the Jewish Federation Los Angeles.
Events and tributes will take place starting Sunday at the Museum of Tolerance and continuing through Monday with a special program at the Saban Theatre organized by Jewish Federation Los Angeles, as well as the Israeli- American Council, StandWithUs, and Temple of the Arts.
Monday’s event will feature several speakers such as actor and activist Mayim Bialik, Israeli actress Moran Atias, Israeli performer Raviv Kaner and more than 30 elected officials including Rep. Brad Sherman, D-Sherman Oaks.
It will be live-streamed at form.jotform.com/JFedLAForms/LARemembers- waitlist.
“These events have been organized with our partners to show that despite the tragedy of October 7th, we remain and will forever be a resilient, hopeful, and united people,” Farkas added.
