President Donald Trump announced plans for a “Patriot Games” event to be held during the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026, which he’s calling “Freedom 250” and referring to as “the most spectacular birthday party the world has ever seen.”
“Frankly, you’ll never see anything like it and you’ll never see anything like it again,” Trump declared in his announcement video.
Trump said the Patriot Games will be a “four-day athletic event featuring the greatest high school athletes, one young man and one young woman, competing from each state and territory.”
“But I promise there will be no men playing in women’s sports. You’re not going to see that,” he added, continuing his public opposition of transgender athletes competing against cisgender athletes.
Several activities for Freedom 250 are scheduled to take place between June 25 and July 10, which includes a “Spirit of America” parade honoring fallen soldiers, a fireworks celebration on the National Mall and a “Great American State Fair,” according to the White House.
“All of this is just the beginning. 2026 will be a celebration of America like no other, honoring our nation and all of its glory to help carry out these exciting,” Trump concluded in the video.
