A 6.0-magnitude earthquake was reported in Turkey on Wednesday (October 16), according to the United States Geological Survey.
The earthquake was centered in Doğanyol at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles). The USGS said it received 54 reports of people having felt the earthquake at the time of publication.
The Turkey earthquake was reported days after a 2.5-magnitude earthquake was reported in South Carolina on Sunday (October 13), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Coronaca at a depth of 18.6 kilometers (about three miles).
Sunday’s earthquake was the second to hit Coronaca in a three-day span. A 2.2-magnitude earthquake was reported in the same city last Thursday (October 10) with a 3.0 kilometer (about two miles) depth.
