SANTA ANA (CNS) – An investigation was continuing Thursday into the death of a 23-year-old man who was fatally struck by a vehicle while skateboarding on a Santa Ana street.
According to the Santa Ana Police Department, Peter Bryan Duran Morquecho, of Anaheim, was riding a skateboard southbound along the western curb of Main Street near 15th Street around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was hit by a vehicle also heading south.
It was unclear what caused the vehicle to strike the skateboarder, who fell to the ground unconscious, police said. The driver who struck the man remained at the scene and spoke with investigators.
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to have been contributing factors, police said.
Police and Orange County Fire Authority paramedics who responded to the scene found the man lying in the roadway. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died, police said.
Anyone with information was asked to contact Detective Kelvin Catlin at 714-245-8224 or the Santa Ana Police Department Traffic Division at 714-245- 8200.
