Second Facebook Settlement Payment On The Way

Some Facebook users are set to receive a second payment from Meta’s $725 million privacy settlement. The payments, which begin on Tuesday (June 9), stem from lawsuits accusing Facebook of improperly sharing user data with third-party sources, notably during the 2018 Cambridge Analytica scandal. The initial settlement checks were distributed in September 2025, with an average payout of about $29.43.

According to a website dedicated to the settlement, the second round of checks will only be sent to those who cashed their initial payments. The distribution will occur over a four-week period, with notifications sent three to four days prior to payment issuance.

NBC Chicago reports that the first payments went out in September 2025, following a settlement with Meta Platforms Inc. to avoid trial costs. The second distribution uses uncashed funds from the initial settlement, totaling around $100 million.

The Hill notes that the second payments will be smaller, with an average of about $6. Payment methods include checks, direct deposits, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, and prepaid debit cards, depending on the original claim method.

For more information, users can visit the settlement website. Anyone needing assistance with their payment status can contact the settlement administrator.
