MONTEREY PARK (CNS) – Monterey Park police will be out in force Friday, looking for intoxicated drivers.
The DUI patrols will begin at 5 p.m. Friday and continue overnight until 3 a.m., according to the department.
“We want everyone to be as safe as possible, especially when they are on the road,” said Monterey Park Chief of Police Scott Wiese.
Impaired driving includes driving under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, some prescription medication and over-the-counter drugs that could interfere with driving.
A first-time DUI charge could cost drivers about $13,500 in fines and penalties, according to police. Impaired drivers could also have their license suspended.
