Florida Hard Rock Casino Evacuated Twice As Bomb Squad Finds Hidden Devices

Guests at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, Florida, were forced to evacuate the building twice after homemade explosive devices were discovered.

Shortly before midnight on Sunday (September 29), a “crude concealed device with fireworks components” was discovered in the men’s room adjacent to the casino, the Seminole Police Department told Fox News in a statement.

The building was evacuated as the bomb squad was dispatched to the casino. Technicians were able to render the device safe and remove it from the building. After three hours, guests were allowed back inside.

About six hours later, another device was found hidden in a men’s bathroom on the mezzanine level of the casino, forcing officials to evacuate the building for a second time. The device was found as investigators were combing through surveillance footage investigating the first bomb.

The bomb squad returned, deactivated the second bomb, and safely removed it from the building.

The FBI is working with local authorities to investigate the bombs. So far, officials have not released any information about suspects or a potential motive for placing the bombs.
