A 76-year-old woman from Connecticut was found dead in her home hours before she was set to be sentenced to 13 years in jail for murdering her husband.
Kosuda-Bigazzi was scheduled to appear at Hartford Superior Court on Wednesday (July 24) afternoon to begin her prison sentence for killing her husband in 2017. She hid his body and continued to collect his paychecks until 2018, when police found his remains during a welfare check.
The Connecticut State Police were called to perform a welfare check at the Burlington home of Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi on Wednesday morning, just three hours before her hearing. When officers arrived, they discovered that Kosuda-Bigazzi was deceased. Officials said her death remains under investigation.
No other details were provided.
“We were honored to be her legal counsel and did our very best to defend her in a complex case for the past six years,” her lawyer, Patrick Tomasiewicz, said in a statement. “She was a very independent woman who was always in control of her own destiny.”
