Body Parts Found In Freezer Belonged To 16-Year-Old Missing Since 2005

Authorities in Colorado have identified the human remains that were discovered in a freezer back in January. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office said the frozen human head and hands belonged to 16-year-old Amanda Overstreet, who went missing in 2005.

The rest of her body has not been found.

Officials did not say how she died or when she is believed to have been killed.

“The circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain under investigation, as well as ongoing forensic testing of evidence,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Officials said that Overstreet was the daughter of the previous homeowner. She was never reported missing but was last seen in April 2005.

“The last time we saw the little girl was when she was on her way to school,” neighbor Jameson Perez told KJCT.

Perez said he always felt something was off about the home.

“I would walk my dogs about once every other day, and just walking by the house, you just smelled mildew. It would make you sick walking by.”

The remains were found in January by somebody who came to pick up the freezer, which was being given away for free by the new owner of the home.

“We were all guessing who it was. We started thinking, ‘Had it been the little girl who was there?'” Perez said.

Police said that the new homeowners have no connection to the case.
