Biden Aide Admits To ‘Gaslighting’ By Covering Up Age, Health Concerns

A senior aide for former President Joe Biden admitted that his administration was “gaslighting” Americans when it repeatedly downplayed concerns about his age and ability.

Michael LaRosa, who served as a White House aide and longtime press secretary for former First Lady Jill Biden, admitted that staffers were aware that Biden’s age was going to be an issue from “day one” of Biden’s campaign and said aides were “scared to death” of letting him do off-the-cuff interviews leading up to the 2024 presidential election, Puck reports.

“Cover-up to me is a little hard, a little harsh. Every politician, everybody, every human being tries to cover up age. We were always, from day one, cognizant that age was an issue,” LaRosa said during a Science Institute at American University seminar on Wednesday (February 26).

“There are some things that are true, I mean, like the gaslighting. There was a lot of denial of the polling. And I will use the term gaslighting because that’s what they were doing, the campaign, former colleagues. The message to everybody was to make sure that you tell people it’s too early.”

Last week, actor George Clooney revealed that Biden lost his support during a Los Angeles fundraiser in June 2024, claiming the media failed to cover Biden’s fitness and ability to serve, during an interview with the New York TimesMaureen Dowd.

“I saw him for hours a year earlier at the Kennedy Center, and I saw someone much less sharp,” Clooney told Dowd, who wrote that the actor was “gobsmacked” by the experience.

Clooney, a longtime Democratic donor, publicly called for Biden to drop out of the presidential race on July 10, which was 11 days before the president ultimately announced his decision to end his re-election campaign.

“It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe ‘big F**king deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate,” Clooney wrote in a guest essay for the New York Times, referencing the Los Angeles fundraiser at the time.
