A thrilling encounter off the coast of Freeport, Bahamas, was captured on video when a tiger shark nearly swallowed a diver’s camera during a feeding session. The incident occurred on February 9, when diver Andrea Ramos Nascimento was filming the feeding of tiger sharks. The shark approached the camera, which was attached to a feeding box, and took a bite, providing a rare view from inside its mouth.
The camera continued recording, offering a stunning 360-degree perspective of the shark’s gills and razor-sharp teeth. Eventually, the shark realized the camera wasn’t food and spat it out, allowing Nascimento to retrieve it with the footage intact.
Tiger sharks, known to grow up to 18 feet long, are considered one of the “big three” most dangerous sharks, along with bull and great white sharks. They often explore objects with their mouths, which sometimes leads to encounters like this one. The sharks at Tiger Beach are known for their curiosity, often mistaking cameras and other shiny objects for food.
