Demonstrations Continue in Downtown Los Angeles, Fullerton

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Protesters and police met in downtown Los Angeles, leading to the Los Angeles Police Department declaring a non-permitted demonstration, but it was peacefully dispersed and no injuries or arrests were reported Monday.

The demonstration blocked traffic on Spring Street near City Hall on Sunday. Demonstrators have marched to City Hall for seven days in a row to protest against President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

Similar demonstrations were reported in Fullerton, where protesters gathered at the corner of Harbor Boulevard and Orangethorpe Avenue.

The demonstrations in Los Angeles ended at the LAPD headquarters in downtown and near City Hall just before 1 p.m. Sunday.

Police dispersed the protesters shortly thereafter.

Trump has increased deportations, acting on his campaign promises to crack down on immigration, since taking office on Jan. 20. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE, have been conducting immigration raids in major cities, including Los Angeles.

Protesters were seen carrying signs at the demonstrations that read “Don’t bite the hands that feed you” in response to immigration raids targeting workers who come to the U.S. from Mexico to work in the agriculture and service industries.
