Trump Calls Openly Gay Anchor By Woman’s Name

Former President Donald Trump repeatedly referred to openly gay CNN anchor Anderson Cooper by a woman’s name both on his Truth Social account and during rallies over the weekend.

Trump called Cooper ‘Allison Cooper,’ while referencing the anchor’s town hall with his 2024 presidential election opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, in a post shared on Truth Social Friday (October 25) and again during a rally in Traverse City, Michigan, later that day.

“If you watched her being interviewed by Allison Cooper the other night, he’s a nice person. You know Allison Cooper? CNN fake news,” Trump said via the Associated Press, before pausing and changing to a mocking tone: “Oh, she said no, his name is Anderson. Oh, no.”

Trump repeated the reference during another Michigan rally on Saturday (October 26), and again later that evening in Pennsylvania.

“They had a town hall,” Trump said during the second Michigan rally. “Even Allison Cooper was embarrassed by it. He was embarrassed by it.”

Trump appeared to evoke a stereotype portraying gay men as effeminate as he continues to target a male voting demographic in the final days leading up to the 2024 presidential election. The former president recently appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience, which has an 81% male audience, according to a YouGov survey, and went viral for discussing late legendary golfer Arnold Palmer‘s genitalia during a recent Pennsylvania rally.
