RFK Jr. Plans To Drop Out Of Presidential Race By End Of Week: Report

Robert Kennedy Jr. is planning to end his bid to be president by the end of the week, according to a report by ABC News, citing two sources familiar with the decision. Kennedy’s campaign announced he would host an event in Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday (August 24) to address “his path forward” in the 2024 presidential campaign.

The sources said that Kennedy is leaning toward endorsing former President Donald Trump, but that decision has not been finalized. Trump is hosting a rally in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale on Friday. Glendale is about 20 minutes from Phoenix.

The report comes after Kennedy’s running mate, Nicole Shanahan, recently suggested that the campaign had “two options:” stay in the race and watch Kamala Harris win, or drop out and support Trump.

“There’s two options that we’re looking at, and one is staying in, forming that new party, but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and Walz presidency because we draw votes from Trump or we draw somehow more votes from Trump,” she said during an appearance on Tom Bilyeu‘s Impact Theory podcast. “Or we walk away right now and join forces with Donald Trump. And, you know, we walk away from that and we explain to our base why we’re making this decision.”
