Detectives, Armed Suspect Continue Standoff in Lancaster

LANCASTER (CNS) – A standoff with detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and a barricaded armed suspect in Lancaster has entered its 14th hour Tuesday with no end in sight.

Deputies from the department’s Lancaster Station responded to reports of a barricaded armed suspect at 43967 Blue Sky Court and Engle Way at approximately 3:32  p.m. Monday. They contacted the department’s Special Enforcement Bureau, which responded to the scene, said the LASD.

SEB personnel has assumed tactical command of the barricade and a Crisis Negotiation Team is attempting to make contact with the suspect to bring the situation to a peaceful conclusion.

The surrounding homes have been evacuated for the safety of the residents, according to the LASD.

KTLA reported the LASD have closed Avenue J-8 from 21st Street West to 25th Street West during the standoff.
