The suspect in a serious incident at St. Louis Lambert International Airport was fatally shot by police early Friday (November 21) morning, KSDK reports.
A man was found holding a knife when officers conducted routine security checks at the American Airlines ticketing counter at around 1:05 a.m., according to the St. Louis County Police Department. STL Airport Police officers reportedly told the man to drop the knife and he refused, at which point a stun gun was used on the suspect.
The man kept advancing toward officers, at which point he was fatally shot, a St. Louis Police Department spokesperson confirmed during a news conference addressing the incident. No additional injuries were reported.
The STL Airport officers involved in the incident were reported to have been with the force for six months to one year and all had prior law enforcement experience.
St. Louis Lambert International Airport confirmed that its Terminal 1 MetroLink station was closed and pickup had been moved elsewhere Friday morning in a post shared on its X account.
“MetroLink will drop off passengers at the T2 station and use shuttles from T2/Door 2 on the upper level. T1 pick-up is at Door 6 on the upper level,” the airport announced.
