Newly released video footage shows former USC and NFL quarterback turned FOX Sports broadcaster Mark Sanchez bloodied and staggering in downtown Indianapolis after being stabbed early Saturday (October 4) morning.
Sanchez, 38, was seen putting his hand on what appears to be a bloody wound just below his chest in the surveillance footage obtained and shared by the New York Post. The former NFL quarterback is now facing a Level 5 felony charge of battery “involving serious bodily injury” in relation to his alleged attack of a 69-year-old man who stabbed him during an altercation in Indianapolis this past weekend, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced on Monday (October 6).
Punishment for a Level 5 felony charge of battery “involving serious bodily injury” can range from one to six years in prison, according to Mears, who confirmed that prosecutors were still investigating the incident and that Sanchez, 38, could face additional charges. The family of the elderly grease truck driver gave an update on his condition in an exclusive comment to the New York Post late Sunday (October 5).
“He’s OK,” the family said, identifying the man only by his initials PT.
“We are talking to lawyers first. We want to be careful what’s said. We appreciate that,” the family added, acknowledging they were in shocked by news of the alleged incident.
Gruesome photos of the elderly man’s injuries were shared by FOX 59 anchor Angela Ganote with permission from his family.
