Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was reportedly shot while hosting a debate at Utah Valley University on Wednesday (September 10). According to The Guardian, Kirk was sitting underneath a tent while speaking to students around 1:20 p.m. when he was shot. The bullet appeared to strike him in the neck.

After the shooting, police began to evacuate to campus. A suspect has been taken into custody. A short video shared on X claims to show the suspect being detained by the police.

Kirk was taken to the hospital, but no information has been released about his condition.

Newsweek reported that the suspect fired a single shot from the roof of a building about 200 yards away from the event.

FBI Director Kash Patel responded to the shooting in a post on X, promising the full support of the FBI.

“We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation,” Patel wrote.
