Hegseth Shared War Plans In Second Chat: Report

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly revealed U.S. military plans of an attack on the Houtis in Yemen in a second Signal group chat that included his wife, brother and personal lawyer, four sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to the New York Post on Sunday (April 20) night.

Hegseth, 44, reportedly shared information in the second chat that was nearly identical to the sensitive details in an earlier chat that mistakenly included the Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg among numerous senior national security officials in President Donald Trump‘s administration, prior to the attack being carried out on March 15, the sources confirmed. News of the alleged second Signal chat came weeks after the first was reported in what appeared to be dysfunction within the defense Department as multiple top Hegseth advisers have departed and an investigation into the alleged leaks has been launched.

Hegseth’s wife, Jennifer Rauchet, who is also a FOX News alum, was also reported to be included in sensitive meetings with foreign military officials, according to the Wall Street Journal. Three Pentagon officials have been placed on notice in recent days while Dan Caldwell, one of Hegseth’s leading advisers, was escorted from the Pentagon after being identified in relation to a probe into apparent leaks at the Department of Defense, a U.S. official confirmed to Reuters.

On March 24, Goldberg, insisted he saw “minute-by-minute accounting” of how the United States intended to bomb Yemen, despite Hegseth denying the classified information was ever accidentally sent in a text message. Goldberg publicly claimed that he was inadvertently included in a Signal message chain with top officials from Trump’s administration as Hegseth, Vice President JD Vance, and others discussed plans to strike against the Houthi terror group in Yemen.

Hegseth publicly denied that sensitive “war plans” were ever discussed in the chat group and accused Goldberg of having a history of being “deceitful and highly discredited.”
