A shooting at Piper Arms Pub near Scarborough Town Centre in Toronto on Friday (March 7) night left 12 people injured, with three suspects still at large. The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. local time, when three men entered the pub and opened fire indiscriminately, according to Toronto Police Superintendent Paul MacIntyre.
The suspects were armed with an assault rifle and handguns. Six people suffered bullet wounds, while others were injured by flying or broken glass. Fortunately, none of the injuries are life-threatening. The victims range in age from their 20s to mid-50s.
Police have launched a manhunt, deploying all available resources to track down the suspects. One suspect, wearing a black balaclava, was seen fleeing the scene in a silver car. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and authorities are pursuing all leads.
Superintendent MacIntyre expressed his horror at the violence, stating, “This was a brazen and reckless act of violence that’s really shaken our community and the city itself.” Mayor Olivia Chow also voiced her concern on social media, saying she was “deeply troubled” by the incident.
