Uber has released its 10th annual “Lost and Found Index,” highlighting the most forgetful cities and some unusual items left behind in rideshare vehicles. According to the report, New York City tops the list as the most forgetful city, followed by Miami, Chicago, and San Francisco. The most commonly forgotten items include phones, wallets, luggage, keys, and headphones.
The index also features a list of unique items left behind, such as dentures, breast milk, an ankle monitor, and a child’s prosthetic eye. Other peculiar items include a 75-gallon fish tank, a brand new mini fridge, and a cape with the Statue of Liberty on it.
Uber has introduced an improved feature in its app to help users retrieve lost items more easily. This feature allows passengers to request an Uber trip to return their lost belongings or contact the driver directly to arrange a pickup. The feature is currently available in select markets, including California, Texas, Illinois, and several others, with plans to expand nationwide by the end of the year.
For those who have experienced leaving something behind, Uber’s new system aims to simplify the process of recovering lost items. The company continues to track trends in lost items, noting that Sundays are the most forgetful day of the week.
