A transgender Utah woman was taken into custody after allegedly killing her parents. According to KSL, 28-year-old Mia Bailey broke into her parents’ home on Tuesday (June 18) night and shot her parents before fleeing.
Her brother called 911 to report the shooting. When officers arrived, they found Bailey’s mother had been shot several times, and her father had been shot in the head.
Bailey was taken into custody the following day and provided harrowing details about the deadly shooting.
“She entered the house and almost immediately began shooting at her mother,” police wrote in the arrest affidavit. “Mia stated that her father … heard the shots and began walking toward her. Mia stated that she shot her father in the head and that he immediately dropped to the ground.”
After going upstairs for a while, Mia went back downstairs to make sure her father was dead.
“Mia described that she returned to her father who was lying on the ground and shot him one more time in the head to make sure that he was dead. While doing that, Mia … walked back over to her mother and shot her in the head to make sure that she was dead,” the affidavit continued.
She then fired a gunshot into the bedroom where her brother had locked himself inside.
“Mia stated that her brother was not her main target, but she would not have been sad had the gunshot killed him.”
She then told police that she had no remorse for killing her parents.
“Mia stated, ‘I would do it again. I hate them,” officers wrote in the affidavit.
Mia is facing seven charges of felony discharge of a firearm, three counts of aggravated murder, and one account of aggravated burglary.
