Top Democrats Fearful Of Biden Campaign: Report

Top Democrats are reportedly expressing concerns about President Joe Biden‘s re-election strategy, but fear that speaking up could get them exiled from his inner circle, sources with knowledge of the situation told Axios on Wednesday (June 19).

“It is unclear to many of us watching from the outside whether the president and his core team realize how dire the situation is right now, and whether they even have a plan to fix it. That is scary,” a Democratic strategist in contact with the Biden campaign said.

“Even for those close to the center, there is a hesitance to raise skepticism or doubt about the current path, for fear of being viewed as disloyal,” another source linked to the Biden campaign told Axios, acknowledging that they believed “that a change of course” for the campaign “is needed.”

Some senior Democrats believe Biden’s campaign is too focused on the January 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol, further potential political violence and threats to democracy, as well as former President Donald Trump‘s character, rather than addressing voter concerns such as the economy and inflation. Biden was reported to have said “Trump” 17 times, “freedom” eight times and “democracy” four times during his fundraiser in McLean, Virginia, on Tuesday (June 18), but only mentioned “economy” twice and “inflation” three times.

The Biden campaign launched a $50 million television ad hammering Trump’s recent 34-count felony conviction on Monday (June 17), which addresses the former president and GOP presidential candidate as “a convicted criminal who’s only out for himself.”
