Tesla Recalls Cybertrucks Over Wheel Issue, 200K Cars Over Camera Problem

Tesla has announced a recall affecting 173 of its Cybertruck models from the 2024 to 2026 model years. The recall addresses a potential issue where the wheel studs could separate from the wheel hub, increasing the risk of a crash. This problem is specific to Cybertrucks equipped with 18-inch steel wheels. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), rough roads and cornering may cause cracks in the brake rotor stud holes, leading to possible wheel stud separation.

Tesla will replace the front and rear brake rotors, hubs, and lug nuts on the affected vehicles at no cost to the owners. The recall’s manufacturer number is SB-26-33-003, and owners can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752 for more information.

In addition to the Cybertruck recall, Tesla is recalling over 200,000 Model Y, Model S, Model X, and Model 3 vehicles due to a software issue that causes the rearview camera to become inoperable temporarily. This defect could affect the driver’s view and increase the risk of a crash. The recall number for this issue is SB-26-00-016.

Tesla has stated that there have been no reported accidents, fatalities, or injuries related to these recalls. The company will send owner notification letters in June.
