Teen Leads Deputies on E-bike Chase Through California Mall

A 15-year-old boy led mall security and deputies on a high-speed chase through Victoria Gardens Mall in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday.

The incident began around 6:30 p.m. when security personnel attempted to contact the teen, prompting him to flee on his E-bike. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the teen rode at unsafe speeds, performed dangerous stunts, made illegal turns, and nearly hit several pedestrians and motorists. Authorities eventually stopped the boy after a brief struggle and identified him as a resident of Fontana. He was taken to the Victoria Gardens Substation and released to his parents. His E-bike was impounded. It remains unclear if the teen will face any charges.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reminded the public that electric bikes and off-highway motorcycles are not allowed on public roads, pedestrian areas, or shared-use paths and trails. They emphasized that reckless driving and illegal vehicle operation will be enforced to ensure community safety. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station at 909-477-2800.
