Shirtless Man Vandalizes Waymo in East Hollywood

Traffic was halted at the busy intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Edgemont Street in East Hollywood on Saturday when a shirtless man vandalized a Waymo driverless vehicle.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers arrived shortly after 1:35 p.m. to find the man on top of the self-driving car, holding a bent windshield wiper and shouting at the vehicle’s sensor.

Video footage from the Citizen app captured the man lounging on the Waymo’s broken windshield before climbing onto its roof and pulling at its inner components. The police took the man into custody, but further details about the incident remain pending as the LAPD and Waymo have yet to comment.

Waymo, which expanded its operations across Los Angeles in June 2025, has faced criticism for causing traffic issues in congested areas. The autonomous vehicles have also become frequent targets for vandalism. KTLA reports that last month, a group of teens was seen hanging out of a Waymo vehicle in Santa Monica traffic.
