Several Inmates Complain of Illness at Men’s Central Jail

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Several inmates at the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles became ill Tuesday after apparently being exposed to an unknown substance, authorities said.

Paramedics were sent to the facility in the 400 block of East Bauchet Street about 6:50 a.m., according the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“All will be taken to hospitals for further evaluation or required care,” an LAFD statement said. “No escalating or off-site hazard has been identified.”

No staffers complained of medical issues, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
