ROSEMEAD (CNS) – Police Thursday are continuing an investigation of a fatal shooting by San Gabriel police officers after the pursuit of a suspect in Rosemead.
The chase began at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday after San Gabriel Police Department officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2015 Jeep. After the driver refused to stop, officers pursued the driver though San Gabriel to the area of the intersection of Charlotte and Garvey avenues in Rosemead, said Sgt. Nhat Huynh of the San Gabriel Police Department.
The pursuit ended in the 2600 block of Charlotte and two officers opened fire on the suspect, who was struck by gunfire, police said.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were contacted and pronounced the driver dead at the scene, Huynh said.
The crime scene was covered with yellow markers as multiple police agencies, including San Gabriel police and the deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, scoured the scene for evidence.
No officers were injured during the shooting, according to CBS 2.
The California Department of Justice is leading the investigation of the shooting, Huynh said.
