Dr. Kevin Cannard, a neurologist specializing in Parkinson’s disease, visited the White House eight times over an eight-month period, according to White House visitor logs. These visits, which occurred between July 2023 and March 2024, have sparked speculation about the health of President Joe Biden. However, the White House has denied that the President is being treated for Parkinson’s disease.
Dr. Cannard, who works at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, had only visited the White House once prior to July 2023. His visits included one with the President’s personal physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor. The White House has not confirmed whether Dr. Cannard was advising on the President’s personal care, stating that a variety of specialists from Walter Reed visit the White House to treat military personnel working on the grounds.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to confirm the name of any medical specialist entering the White House complex, citing security reasons and respect for their privacy. She also reiterated that the President is not being treated for Parkinson’s disease and is not taking medication for it.
President Biden’s annual physical exam, conducted in February, involved a neurologist who found no signs of Parkinson’s. The President has insisted that he passes a cognitive test every day, stating in an interview that he is “running the world.”
