One Wounded in Shooting in Downtown Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A 19-year-old man is in the hospital Wednesday after he was shot near the border between downtown Los Angeles and Boyle Heights.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a shots fired call around 11 p.m. Tuesday to First and Myers streets where the victim told officers he was walking under the nearby First Street Bridge when he heard gunshots and turned to run away. After he ran a short distance, he realized he had been shot, an LAPD spokeswoman told City News Service.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel took him to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

There was no suspect description.
