LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A pedestrian who was possibly armed with a weapon was wounded Thursday in a shooting that shut down the northbound Hollywood (101) Freeway near downtown Los Angeles.
The California Highway Patrol was informed about 7:30 a.m. that a pedestrian possibly armed with a hammer or a gun was on the northbound Hollywood (101) Freeway just north of Fourth Street, an officer said.
At least one officer opened fire, according to the CHP.
No officers were injured, but the suspect was taken to a hospital, an officer told City News Service,.
The suspect’s condition was not immediately available.
The northbound and southbound 101 were closed at Fourth Street following the shooting as shown in live aerial camera shots from a helicopter.
The southbound lanes reopened around 8:40 a.m. according to the live transmission from the helicopter.
