A Florida woman was arrested for allegedly getting involved in a bus stop fight between her daughter and another juvenile. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said that 34-year-old Kathryn Stephanopoulos learned that her daughter was going to be involved in a “mutually agreed upon fight” with another girl.
Authorities said that Stephanopoulos showed up at the bus stop, but instead of breaking up the fight, she joined in. A video shows Stephanopoulos putting the girl in a headlock and wrestling her to the ground while her daughter strikes the other girl.
As they fought, a male rushed over and tried to break up the fight, but Stephanopoulos’ daughter started fighting him.
Stephanopoulos was taken into custody and charged with aggravated child abuse. One of the juveniles was charged with felony aggravated battery, and the other juvenile is facing misdemeanor charges.
“Instead of de-escalating the situation, we have a mother who joined in the fray, setting a bad example for her child and those at the bus stop,” stated Sheriff Rick Staly. “She certainly won’t receive Mother of the Year with her actions. Parents need to set the example and not be part of the problem. Luckily, no one was seriously injured, but now a mother is facing serious charges for losing control of her temper.”
