More 605 Paving Work Closures Slated for This Weekend

WEST WHITTIER (CNS) – Overnight weekend lane and ramp closures will be in place on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway starting Friday evening in West Whittier to allow for ongoing paving work.

From 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, overnight closures of the northbound 605 will take place between north of Washington Boulevard to Whittier Boulevard, according to Caltrans.

Up to two lanes will be closed in both directions of the 605 from Telegraph Road to the San Bernardino (10) Freeway for an equipment-moving operation from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night from Monday through next Friday.

“There will be no full freeway closures associated with this paving operation,” accoridng to a Caltrans statement.

The closures on northbound 605 are as follows:

Freeway Lanes:  Northbound 605 reduced to one lane from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday. Northbound 605 reduced to two lanes from 4 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Sunday. Northbound 605 reduced to one lane from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. All northbound 605 lanes will reopen to the public by 5 a.m. Monday.

Ramps: The northbound 605 Washington Boulevard off-ramp closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. The northbound 605 Washington Boulevard on- ramp closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. Westbound Washington Boulevard/Saragosa Street on-ramp to northbound 605 closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. Northbound I-605 Whittier Boulevard off-ramp closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.

There will be more 55-hour extended weekend lane reductions scheduled through 2026, including demolition work next weekend.
