Florida Couple in IVF Mix-Up to Raise Child

A Florida couple, Steven Mills and Tiffany Score, have reached an agreement to raise a child born from an in vitro fertilization (IVF) mix-up. The couple discovered that their daughter, Shea Score Mills, born on December 11, 2025, was not genetically related to them. A judge approved the settlement with the biological parents, allowing Mills and Score to retain custody of the six-month-old girl.

The mix-up occurred during an IVF procedure at the Fertility Center of Orlando, which has since closed. Mills and Score, both White, noticed their daughter did not resemble them, prompting genetic testing that revealed Shea’s biological parents are South Asian. Despite the error, the biological parents have agreed not to seek custody, and their identities remain confidential.

Mills and Score have expressed their commitment to raising Shea as their own. “Only one thing is as absolutely certain today as it was on the day our daughter was born — we will love and will be this child’s parents forever,” they stated. The couple is also suing the fertility clinic for the mix-up and seeking answers regarding the fate of their remaining embryos.

As the case unfolds, the couple is focusing on building a relationship with Shea’s biological parents. Meanwhile, they have secured a new fertility provider to manage their remaining embryo. The Fertility Center of Orlando faces multiple lawsuits related to the incident.
