Ex-Girlfriends Accuse Maine Senate Candidate of Abuse

Graham Platner, a Democratic Senate hopeful from Maine, faces serious allegations from his past relationships. According to a report by The New York Times, several of Platner’s ex-girlfriends have accused him of physical abuse and making disturbing statements. One woman claimed Platner twisted her arm and shoved her into a bedroom, while another alleged he fantasized about harming perceived threats and said he would rape home intruders.

In addition to these accusations, Platner’s ex-girlfriends reported that he boasted about a tattoo resembling a Nazi SS symbol, referring to it as “my Totenkopf,” despite his claims of ignorance regarding its meaning. Platner has since covered up the tattoo, stating he was unaware of its significance until recently. He attributes his past behavior to struggles with PTSD, depression, and alcohol abuse following his military service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Platner’s candidacy has been controversial due to his past actions and statements. He has apologized for offensive comments made on Reddit, which he attributes to a period of disillusionment after his military service. Despite these controversies, Platner continues to campaign, emphasizing his transformation and commitment to public service. The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday (June 9), where Platner will face incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins.
