Costco Opens First Standalone Gas Station In Mission Viejo

Costco has opened its first standalone gas station in Mission Viejo, marking a new venture for the retail giant.

Located at 25732 El Paseo, the station replaces a former Bed Bath & Beyond and is situated in a shopping center near the 5 freeway at Oso Parkway. This unique fueling station operates independently, without the typical Costco warehouse, food court, or retail offerings.

The station features 40 pumps under a 17,234-square-foot canopy and is open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. On Thursday, regular unleaded gasoline was priced at $4.79 per gallon, according to the GasBuddy app.

The decision to open a standalone gas station comes amid rising gas prices following geopolitical tensions, including the recent conflict with Iran. The new station aims to provide a convenient fueling option for local residents, as Costco already has three warehouse locations with gas stations in the nearby areas of Laguna Niguel and San Juan Capistrano.

Mission Viejo Mayor Bob Ruesch expressed excitement about the new addition, stating that the 40-pump station will meet the fueling needs of the community. The Orange County Register reported that the station is expected to become a valuable resource for Costco members in the region.
