U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer deleted a Father’s Day post shared on his X account after numerous users trolled his grilling skills.
Schumer, 73, shared a photo in which he wrote that he was barbecuing in the backyard of the home recently purchased by his daughter and her wife for the first time, having spent his entire life living in an apartment.
“Our family has lived in an apartment building for all our years, but my daughter and her wife just bought a house with a backyard and for the first time we’re having a barbecuing with hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill!” Schumer wrote. “Father’s Day Heaven!”
The photo appeared to show six uncooked hamburger patties, including one that already had a slice of cheese on it.
“Chuck. I love you man, but you put the cheese on AFTER the burger is cooked,” one user wrote.
“Might want to cook that burger longer, Chuck,” another responded.
“Seeing that piece of cheese on a raw patty,” wrote former National Republican Senatorial Committee Matt Whitlock alongside a gif of actor Steve Carrell slinking away with concern.
Schumer deleted the post following the criticism, but kept up a separate Father’s Day message shared earlier Sunday morning.
“Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!” he wrote on his X account.
