Altadena’s Christmas Tree Lane Will Return After Eaton Fire

Altadena’s cherished Christmas Tree Lane is set to return this holiday season, bringing joy and unity to the community. Organizers announced on Saturday that the tradition will continue, despite the challenges posed by the Eaton Fire earlier this year. The event, marking its 105th anniversary, will begin with a lighting ceremony on Saturday, December 6, at the corner of Santa Rosa Avenue and Mariposa Street.

The Eaton Fire, which devastated parts of Altadena, left many wondering if the beloved tradition would return. However, the Christmas Tree Lane Association, with the support of volunteers and donations, has ensured the lights will once again adorn the Deodar cedar trees along the mile-long path. According to Pasadena Star-News, the event is free and open to the public, serving as the unofficial kickoff to the holiday season in Altadena.

Volunteers have already begun hanging over 10,000 lights, with the help of donations from Disney, as noted by LAist. The lights will remain on every night until after New Year’s Day. The event will feature live music from local choirs and bands, a Winterfest with craft vendors, food trucks, holiday treats, and a visit from Santa Claus.

The Christmas Tree Lane Association, a volunteer nonprofit organization, has been pivotal in preserving this tradition. Despite the fire’s impact, the community’s resilience and support have ensured the continuation of this beloved event, symbolizing hope and unity for Altadena.
