Former President Donald Trump said he’s unlikely to run for president again if he loses the 2024 election to Vice President Kamala Harris during an interview with Full Measure host Sharyl Attkisson that aired on Sinclair Broadcast Group stations Sunday (September 22) morning and was transposed by the Capital Gazette.
“No, I don’t. I think … that will be it. I don’t see that at all,” Trump said. “Hopefully, we’re gonna be successful.”
Trump, 78, is currently the oldest presidential candidate in history and would be older than current President Joe Biden, 81, the oldest in U.S. history, at 82 in November 2028. A survey released by the University of Mary Washington on Friday (September 20) showed that Harris and Trump were virtually deadlocked in the key battleground state of Virginia.
Harris reportedly has a 48% to 46% lead in a head-to-head matchup with Trump, as well as a 47% to 46% edge with third party candidates considered (4%). The poll was conducted by UMW’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies by Research America between September 3 and September 9 and both results were within the margin of error.
Earlier this week, the Marist institute for Public Opinion poll showed that Harris and Trump were in a dead heat in two crucial battleground states. The two candidates are reportedly tied at 49% in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, while Harris has a five-point lead in Michigan.
