Authorities have identified Benjamin Charles Parker, 36, as the suspect in a quintuple homicide near Forest Grove, Oregon, after five people were found dead on Saturday (August 22). According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Parker was later located in Enumclaw, Washington, about 50 miles southeast of Seattle, where he was discovered dead inside a vehicle on Sunday in what authorities believe was a suicide.
Investigators responded to a call early Saturday morning regarding a vehicle fire at a rural property outside Forest Grove, about 25 miles west of Portland. Firefighters arriving at the scene discovered human remains and called law enforcement, who then found five people dead on the property. Detective Shannon Wilde of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said the case is being investigated as a “quintuple homicide” and described the scene as complex and challenging due to the size of the property and the number of victims involved.
Officials stated that Parker was known to the victims, although the exact nature of their relationship has not been determined. Sheriff Caprice Massey emphasized that investigators do not believe the killings were random and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. “This was our suspect, and he died in Enumclaw, Washington,” Massey said.
The identities, ages, and genders of the five deceased have not been released as law enforcement works to identify the victims and notify their families. Authorities have not disclosed how the victims died, and further details about the crime scene, including the extent of the fire and where the bodies were found, remain under investigation.
Detectives have not specified how Parker was identified as the suspect or how he was tracked to Enumclaw. The Enumclaw Police Department said Parker was found behind a Safeway grocery store, and no additional victims are believed to be involved.
Law enforcement is urging anyone with information about the property or its residents to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to piece together what led to this incident.
