LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Los Angeles County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dipped to 5.3% in July, down from 5.4% in June, according to figures released Friday by the state Employment Development Department.
The 5.3% rate was below the 5.6% rate from July 2025, according to the EDD.
In Orange County, the non-seasonally adjusted July unemployment rate was 4.2%.
Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.1% in July, down from 5.2% in June and below the 5.5% rate from July 2025. The comparable estimates for the nation were 4.1% in July, 4.2% in Junel and 4.3% a year ago.
Between June and July, total nonfarm employment in Los Angeles County decreased by 40,700 to about 4.58 million jobs. The government sector saw the largest drop, shedding 33,100 jobs
