GLENDALE (CNS) – California Credit Union launched a back-to-school supply drive Tuesday in partnership with NBC4 and Telemundo 52, collecting donations of classroom supplies for students across Los Angeles and Orange counties.
The monthlong campaign invites the public to donate items such as backpacks, notebooks, binders, pencils, pens, markers, crayons and other classroom essentials at any California Credit Union branch through July 31.
Officials said the donated supplies will be distributed to students during a community event Aug. 5 at the Southeast Rio Vista YMCA.
“Something as simple as a backpack, notebook or box of pencils can help a student feel more prepared and confident on the first day of school,” California Credit Union President and CEO Steve O’Connell said in a statement.
The school supply drive is in its fourth year as part of NBC4 and Telemundo 52’s Supporting Our Schools campaign.
The television stations also will raise money for youth programming at the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles through Aug. 11 as part of the annual campaign. More information can be found at https://www.nbclosangeles.com/community/supporting-our-schools/.
