Vice President JD Vance made headlines on Thursday (June 25) when he commented on the religious beliefs of Sean “Diddy” Combs during a book promotion event at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library. Vance, promoting his new book “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith,” mentioned Combs in relation to a chapter inspired by the Notorious B.I.G.’s hit song “Mo Money Mo Problems,” which features Combs.
Vance jokingly referred to Combs as “the great Christian theologian P Diddy,” before stating, “as we found out in the last couple of years, [he] is very much not a Christian or a theologian.” Vance’s remarks come in light of Combs’ current incarceration at Fort Dix Prison, where he is serving a 50-month sentence for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, following his conviction in New York last year.
Despite his legal troubles, Combs has been vocal about his faith, bringing a Bible to court and expressing remorse in a letter to the judge before his sentencing. In the letter, Combs wrote, “I can’t change the past, but I can change the future. I know that God put me here to transform me.”
Combs’ legal team is currently seeking to overturn his conviction, and he is scheduled for release in February 2028. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has indicated he will not grant a pardon, despite Combs’ outreach efforts. Combs continues to face numerous civil lawsuits nationwide.
