Lahmeyer, Tedford Head to Runoff in Oklahoma’s 1st District

NBC News projects that Jackson Lahmeyer and State Representative Mark Tedford are advancing to a runoff in Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District. The seat became available after Congressman Kevin Hern decided to run for the U.S. Senate. Lahmeyer, a pastor from Tulsa, has received an endorsement from President Donald Trump, while Tedford is a state representative and businessman.

With 64% of the vote counted, Lahmeyer and Tedford lead a crowded Republican field. Lahmeyer, 34, is known for his involvement in the Christian nationalist movement and founded Pastors for Trump. He has received endorsements from several Republican leaders, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise. Despite recent controversies involving alleged text messages, Lahmeyer remains a strong contender.

Tedford, 56, has built a career in business and politics, earning endorsements from multiple Tulsa-area mayors. He aims to bring his business acumen to Washington, focusing on job creation and economic growth.

The winner of the runoff will face Democrat John Croisant in the general election. The runoff is scheduled for August 25. For more details on the election, visit The Oklahoman and KGOU.
