Actor Nick Pasqual was sentenced on Tuesday to 32 years to life in prison for the 2024 stabbing of his estranged girlfriend, Allie Shehorn, at her Sunland home.
Pasqual, known for his roles in television shows like ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ was found guilty last month of attempted murder, first-degree residential burglary with a person present, and injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend, or child’s parent.
During the trial, Shehorn, a Hollywood makeup artist, testified about the violent attack, showing visible scars on her arm and neck. She recounted a terrifying night in May 2024 when Pasqual broke into her home, brutally beat her, and stabbed her multiple times. Shehorn had previously taken out a restraining order against Pasqual, citing an abusive relationship.
In her victim impact statement, Shehorn said, “When I was lying on the floor in a pool of my own blood, I remembered wondering if this was how my life was going to end.” She added, “You, who I had once trusted, decided my life was something that you could take away.”
Pasqual was arrested at a Texas border checkpoint after the attack. During sentencing, he expressed remorse, saying, “Allie did not deserve to almost have her life taken from her.” However, the judge questioned his sincerity, referencing a recorded phone call where Pasqual mocked Shehorn’s ordeal.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman praised Shehorn’s courage, stating, “Her trial testimony was crucial in securing a guilty verdict so Mr. Pasqual could no longer be free to hurt anyone else.” Hochman emphasized the importance of addressing domestic violence, highlighting the potential for life-threatening situations.
Pasqual’s representatives released a statement expressing his sadness over the case and his commitment to sobriety and accountability. He intends to pursue an appellate process.
