President Trump Evacuated From White House Correspondents’ Dinner

President Donald Trump was swiftly escorted off stage by Secret Service agents during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, District of Columbia, on Saturday (April 25) after possible shots were reported near the venue. Vice President JD Vance and members of President Trump’s Cabinet who were in attendance were also rushed to safety.

According to a source cited by CNN, President Trump is safe, and an administration official confirmed that Cabinet members are unharmed. The Secret Service said their investigation is ongoing and that heightened security measures remain in place.

No injuries among attendees or protectees have been reported.

Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed the the agency is “investigating a shooting incident near the main magnetometer screening are at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.”

“One individual is in custody. The condition of those involved is not yet known, and law enforcement is actively assessing the situation,” Guglielmi wrote in a post on X.

President Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the “shooter has been apprehended.”

He said that he wants the event to continue, but that the decision to resume “will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement.”

A few minutes later, Trump posted again saying that his leaving the venue and will return to the White House, where he will hold a press conference.

“Law Enforcement has requested that we leave the premises, consistent with protocol, which we will do, immediately. I will be giving a press conference in 30 minutes from the White House Press Briefing Room,” Trump wrote.

He said the Correspondents’ Dinner will be rescheduled within 30 days.

No arrests have been announced, and authorities are urging the public to avoid the area as the investigation proceeds.
