Trump’s Latest Approval Rating For Handling Of The Economy Revealed

Fewer people approve of President Donald Trump‘s handling of the economy, according to the latest Associated Press/NORC at the University of Chicago poll released on Tuesday (April 21).

Only 30% of respondents said they approve of Trump’s handling of the economy, which is an increase of 8% from the 38% reported in last month’s poll, and 72% said they believe the country is heading in the wrong direction, which is about the same as the poll conducted in February. The president’s net approval for the cost of living was -53% with just 23% saying they approve and 76% saying they disapprove.

Trump was also reported to have his lowest approval rating for his second of two non-consecutive terms in office in the latest NBC News Decision Desk Poll powered by SurveyMonkey released on Sunday (April 19). The president was reported to have a 37% overall approval rating and a 63% disapproval rating, which includes 50% who said they strongly disapprove, setting a new low for his current term.

Two-thirds of respondents said they disapproved of the president’s handling of both inflation and the war in Iran. Trump still has an overwhelming support from his base, however, Republicans have reportedly softened since previous NBC News Decision Desk polls conducted in late January and early February.

An estimated 83% of Republican respondents gave the president a positive approval rating, though it’s a decrease of 4% from earlier in the year and the percentage of Republicans who strongly approve Trump’s job performance has decreased from 58% to 52%.
