Coyote Attacks 4-Year-Old in Carson Driveway

A 4-year-old boy named Solomon was attacked by a coyote while standing in his grandmother’s driveway in Carson on Tuesday.

The incident was captured on surveillance video, showing the coyote grabbing and pulling Solomon to the ground as his mother, Sarina Donohoo, unloaded supplies from her car.

Donohoo described the terrifying moment, saying, “All of a sudden, I just hear him screaming and I turned around and I screamed as well because I see the coyote on the top of him.” She quickly grabbed her son and ran into the house, causing the coyote to flee. Fortunately, Solomon was not seriously injured and was treated for superficial puncture wounds on his leg and torso.

The boy’s grandparents, who live near a school, reported frequent coyote sightings in the neighborhood. Solomon’s grandmother, Stephanie Fields, expressed frustration over the lack of protective measures, stating, “It hurts my heart that nothing has been done. That there are not protections in place.”

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is actively searching for the coyote involved in the attack. This incident follows a similar attack last year in Carson, where a 6-year-old boy was bitten by a coyote and hospitalized. You can see that video below.

Donohoo emphasized the need for increased safety measures, saying, “We’ve lived with my parents in the past. [The coyotes] have been around for years and when we call for help, they’re saying they can’t do anything. I don’t understand why it takes something like this to happen, and thank God he wasn’t injured more.”
