More Than 6,000 Cases Of Repackaged Popular Candy Recalled Over Allergens

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently classified a recall of more than 6,000 cases of repackaged M&M’s over undeclared allergens.

Beacon Promotions Inc. initiated a voluntary recall on January 26 as the repackaged M&M products were reported to contain undeclared milk, peanut and soy ingredients. The FDA later classified the recall on February 4 as the products may “cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences” to consumers with applicable allergies.

The products affected by the recall include 1.3-Ounce Repackaged M&M’s Peanut candies labeled as “Make Your Mark” and 1.3-Ounce Repackaged M&M’s Peanut candies labeled with several company names including Morgan Stanley, Adobe, xfinity, Subaru and others. M&M products aren’t being recalled as they don’t have any abnormalities, rather the promotional M&M products made by Beacon Promotions Inc. lacked the required allergen warnings on their packaging, making consumers with allergic reactions to milk, soy and peanuts vulnerable as they falsely believe the products are M&M candies safe for consumption.

The recalled candy was distributed in 20 states including Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin, however, no illnesses were reported at the time of publication.
